Engineering Courses

Physics 241 Statics

This is a first course in engineering mechanics. It’s intended for students who wish to major in Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, or similar engineering disciplines. The course focuses on using Newton’s Laws to analyze static structures under various force and moment load conditions. This course is offered fall semester.

Physics 243 Dynamics

This is a second course in engineering mechanics intended for students who wish to major in engineering. Newton’s Laws, vector analysis, and principles of work and Energy will be used to analyze accelerating systems. Point mass and rigid body systems will be studied. This course will include an introduction to mechanical vibrations. Dynamics is offered spring semester.
